Parent Consent & Codes of Conduct

Every role, every practice — Safe, clear, accountable.

Overview

TEAMGOLDUSA uses written Codes of Conduct and parent consent forms to make expectations clear and to align with USA Swimming Safe Sport and the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP).

These forms are reviewed during registration and team meetings, then signed and returned so that athletes, parents, coaches, and officials all understand their responsibilities in keeping our environment safe, respectful, and athlete-centric.

Athletes

Athlete Code of Conduct

Athletes are the heart of TEAMGOLDUSA. The Athlete Code of Conduct explains how swimmers are expected to represent themselves and the team at practices, meets, team events, and online.

Key themes

  • Respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and volunteers.
  • Positive sportsmanship in both victory and defeat.
  • Safe Sport awareness—no bullying, hazing, harassment, or discrimination.
  • Proper behavior in locker rooms, travel, and on social media.
  • Willingness to speak up or report when something feels wrong.

Every athlete is asked to review the Code with a parent/guardian and sign it each season. A copy of the current form is available in Downloads & Forms.

Parents & Spectators

Parent & Spectator Code of Conduct Travel, Medical, Media & Communication Consents

Parents and guardians are essential partners in building an athlete-centric culture. The Parent & Spectator Code of Conduct focuses on supportive sideline behavior, respectful communication, and Safe Sport boundaries.

Code of Conduct

  • Let coaches coach, officials officiate, and athletes compete.
  • Cheer positively—no yelling at swimmers, coaches, or officials.
  • Use appropriate channels and timing when raising concerns.
  • Support Safe Sport, MAAPP, and team travel / communication policies.

Consent Forms

Parents/guardians also complete several consent forms so the team understands what is permitted for their athlete:

  • Team Travel & Transportation Consent — for ride-sharing, bus/van travel, and overnight trips.
  • Medical Treatment Authorization — allows emergency care if a parent/guardian cannot be reached.
  • Media & Photography Consent — sets preferences for photos and videos in team materials.
  • Electronic Communication Consent — defines how the team may contact athletes and parents under MAAPP.

All current parent forms can be downloaded from Downloads & Forms.
