Meet the swimmer.
Study the achievement.

Explore historic American record swims. Begin with Gretchen Walsh’s 46.97-second 100-yard butterfly at the 2025 NCAA Championships.

KNOW THE STORY

One day. Two record swims.

Walsh swam 47.21 in preliminaries, then improved to 46.97 in the final. Learn the event, course and competition context before studying what happened during the swim.

Why the course matters

This is 100 yards in a 25-yard pool. It is distinct from the 100-meter butterfly in a 25-meter or 50-meter pool. Compare performances within the same course.

STUDY THE SWIM

Watch with a purpose.

Find the race

Begin with event, heat and lane. Every new player starts with the same foundation.

Observe the technique

Study stroke count, breakout distance, kicks and breaths using the game’s observation definitions.

Understand the race

Collect splits and underwater checkpoints, then look at starts and turns.

Bring back one question

Explain something you noticed to your coach. Ask which idea is appropriate for your own swimming.
