TEAMGOLDUSA PRIVATE TRAININGBefore You Begin
Step 1 of 5

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Private instruction should strengthen—not compete with—the athlete’s primary coaching relationship.

A private lesson can be valuable when it has a defined purpose, honest communication, and respect for the athlete’s existing coach and team.

Talk with the primary coach first

When an athlete already trains with a team or principal coach, the parent should discuss the goal of outside private instruction before booking another coach. This helps prevent conflicting technical messages and keeps the athlete out of the middle.

Supplement; do not undermine

Private instruction should address an agreed skill or need. It should never be used to criticize another coach, secretly replace a training plan, create divided loyalties, or encourage an athlete to disregard team expectations.

Respect every coaching relationship

TEAMGOLDUSA will not use a private lesson to recruit an athlete away from another club, compare coaches in front of the swimmer, or discredit another program. Any disagreement belongs in a respectful adult conversation—not on the pool deck with the athlete.

Protect clarity and safety

Parents must disclose the athlete’s current team, primary coach, relevant limitations, and the intended lesson goal. All sessions remain subject to Safe Sport, facility, supervision, and observation requirements.
