DRY TEST · ATHLETE OVERVIEW

What to expect from the Mobility Assessment

This assessment records how you reach and rotate through several swimming-related positions. It helps your coach understand your current movement profile; it is not a medical exam and there is no single passing score.
01

Before you start

Tell your coach about pain, injury, illness, restrictions or anything that makes a position uncomfortable. Wear normal dryland clothing that allows easy movement.

02

During the assessment

You will complete comfortable shoulder, trunk, hip, hamstring and ankle positions. Some are active; others involve gentle assistance from a trained assessor.

03

After the assessment

Your coach keeps the exact measures and compensation notes. Results support training conversations and future retesting; they do not label your potential.

WHAT WILL BE MEASURED

Your mobility profile

The assessment includes wall streamline, shoulder flexion and rotation, overhead reach, thoracic rotation and extension, hip rotation and flexor length, straight-leg raise, and ankle motion.

Your result is a profile, not a grade.

Growth, training load, technique, anatomy and measurement setup all affect mobility. Coaches compare like-for-like results over time and involve parents, guardians and qualified healthcare professionals when a finding is painful or concerning.
