PARENTS • RECRUITING
Parent guide.
Organize, support, and preserve ownership.
Parents provide structure, transportation, financial clarity, perspective, and emotional support while the student-athlete increasingly owns communication and decisions.
Parent responsibilities
- Protect academic planning and eligibility awareness.
- Clarify the family’s affordable range before offers arrive.
- Help organize visits, records, questions, and deadlines.
- Encourage direct athlete-to-coach communication.
- Ask about roster management, scholarships, aid renewal, injury support, and transfer realities.
- Evaluate the entire institution, not only the swim program.
Do not negotiate away fit
A larger scholarship at the wrong academic, cultural, or developmental environment can be more costly than a smaller offer at the right school.
