25 and 50 Maximal Sprint Test
The 25/50 test establishes a repeatable maximal sprint baseline. TEAMGOLDUSA records the exact distance, pool course, start and timing setup so later results remain meaningful.PRIMARY OUTPUT
What it measures
Total sprint time, with optional segment timing, clean-swimming velocity and stroke-cycle observations when equipment allows.IMPORTANT LIMIT
What it does not measure
A direct measurement of anaerobic power. Total time also reflects the start, underwater phase, turn, finish and timing method.COACH PROTOCOL AT A GLANCE
How to administer the 25 / 50
- Test only a healthy, prepared athlete and complete the standardized sprint warm-up.
- Choose 25 or 50, pool course, start method and timing method before the trial.
- Give full recovery and perform a maximal sprint with no pacing instruction.
- Record total time and, when available, defined segment and stroke-cycle measures.
- Repeat only under the packet rules and compare like-for-like conditions.

25 / 50 test FAQ
Does a 25 or 50 sprint directly measure anaerobic power?
No. It measures maximal sprint performance; total time includes several technical and physiological contributors.
Should swimmers dive for the sprint test?
Use the start method selected by the coach and record it. Retests should use the same safe setup.
Can hand times and electronic times be compared?
They should not be treated as interchangeable. Record the timing method and compare like with like.
