WET TEST · TEAMGOLDUSA SWIMMING PERFORMANCE

4 × 50 Speed Repeatability Test

This test uses four maximal 50s on TEAMGOLDUSA’s fixed 2:00 send-off. Coaches retain every repeat time and calculate multiple change measures rather than relying on one label.

BEST USED FOR

Who this test serves

Sprint swimmers when coaches need to assess the ability to repeat maximal 50 performance under fixed recovery.

PRIMARY OUTPUT

What it measures

All four 50 times, first-to-fourth change, fastest-to-slowest spread and percent performance decrement.

IMPORTANT LIMIT

What it does not measure

A universal fatigue index. Results depend on the pool course, start, timing and exact recovery protocol.

COACH PROTOCOL AT A GLANCE

How to administer the 4 × 50

  1. Confirm eligibility and complete a standardized sprint warm-up.
  2. Record pool course, start, timing method and the fixed 2:00 send-off.
  3. Perform four maximal 50s, leaving exactly on the prescribed send-off.
  4. Record every time plus any missed interval, interruption or protocol change.
  5. Calculate first-to-fourth drop and percent decrement; compare only identical protocols.

COMMON QUESTIONS

4 × 50 test FAQ

What is the send-off for the TEAMGOLDUSA 4x50 test?

The published TEAMGOLDUSA protocol uses a fixed 2:00 send-off.

Is a 3:00 send-off the same test?

No. Changing the recovery changes the protocol, so a 3:00 version must be labeled and compared separately.

How is 4x50 percent decrement calculated?

Divide the sum of all four times by four times the best time, subtract one, and multiply by 100.

Safety and medical boundary

Performance testing is not a medical examination, diagnosis or clearance to participate. Stop for distress or concerning symptoms, follow individual restrictions and the facility emergency action plan, and refer health questions to a parent or guardian and qualified healthcare professional.
