Packing & Equipment
Pack useful swim-meet essentials and buy training equipment only when your swimmer’s group needs it.
Keep the bag simple
Start with reliable essentials that fit your swimmer. Label belongings and ask the coach before buying specialized training equipment.

Daily essentials and optional extras
| Use | What to bring |
|---|---|
| Practice | Training suit, fitted goggles, towel, water bottle, and equipment assigned by the coach. |
| Assigned training gear | Fins, kickboard, pull buoy, snorkel, paddles, or dryland items only when requested. |
| Spectator comfort | Chairs, shade, or other items only where the host permits them. |
| Family logistics | Plan parking, meals, weather, and supervision for siblings before the session. |
Before you spend
Check fit, comfort, and your group’s actual requirements. Expensive gear is not a substitute for learning. Ask the coach about competition-suit requirements before purchasing a specialized suit.
Questions families ask
Can I bring a tent or chair?
Check the host’s spectator rules and designated team areas. Do not assume pool-deck seating, tents, or outside food are permitted.
Should we try new food on race day?
Pack familiar options your swimmer already tolerates. Plan enough for the session rather than relying entirely on concessions.
What should I check the night before?
Check the bag, accepted events, address, arrival time, and current coach messages. Allow your swimmer to help pack and take ownership.
